Where QuillBot is better

  • Paraphrasing. It's what QuillBot is known for: many rewrite modes, from formal to simpler wording. Lingently's rewrites are for tone only.
  • More tools in one app. A translator for 40+ languages, an AI detector, a chat assistant and image generation.
  • A keyboard option. If you want the check inside the keyboard itself, QuillBot offers one. Lingently is never a keyboard.
  • The web. One Premium subscription works on Android and on the web, which helps for essays on a laptop.

Where Lingently is better

  • Correction you can learn from. Each fix is struck through and corrected, with one line on why: "I am agree" → "I agree": "agree" is a verb, so you don't need "am".
  • It teaches. Your fixes become a few minutes of daily practice from your own sentences, plus a word bank and a view of the mistakes that keep coming back.
  • You keep your keyboard. Nothing to switch. You tap the character when you want a check, and only the field you're typing in is read. Never password fields or SMS.
  • It costs less. Pro is $47.99 a year. QuillBot's Premium goes up to $99.95 in its Play listing.
  • Five languages checked. English, Spanish, French, German and Portuguese.

Which should you use?

  • You want both: they can live on the same phone. Use QuillBot for paraphrasing and Lingently for the check before you send.
